With our 149th rivalry football game with Lafayette, the campus has been preparing for a weeks worth of celebrations and traditions. And what a better way to start off the week than with an awesome fundraiser and rally!
Saturday night was Lehigh’s first annual Dance Marathon. It was an event where students pledged not to sit for eight hours in order to raise money for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. The event raised over $39,000, well over the goal for the event, which was fantastic and incredibly exciting. There were two musical guests that evening; Kingsfoil – an indie rock band who’s drummer just happened to be Agent Cody Banks (aka Frankie Muniz) and DJ Kapslap, a recent Lehigh alum. The music was great and really got people dancing.
Possibly the greatest moment of Dance Marathon, though, were the children from CHOP that came to support the event. Being able to know that the money you raised was directly going to effect these amazing, strong children in front of you was really powerful and heartwarming. Two of the kids made it and stayed the entire night until one AM! They were dancing practically with their eyes shut, but they kept going on and on and stayed until the reveal of the final fundraising amount.
Then on Sunday we had the official kick off to Lehigh-Laf week with the rally and a giant dance party with the DJs SuperMash Brothers! It was a ton of fun and now I’m just really, really sore from all the dancing this weekend. Can’t wait to see what the rest of the week has in store!
