Halloween Surprises

In my mechanics of engineering class, I am being taught by one of the newest professors to Lehigh’s campus. It is her first semester teaching, which means that she has a lot of innovative ideas that takes a class that can potentially be very boring and stressful to something that is really enjoyable to go to.

For example, as a reward for being the section with the highest average on our last four o’clock exam, she promised that on Halloween she would find us a black light and give us the lecture with fluorescent chalk. Then, last Friday she did just that.

Even though we had to turn the real lights back on after about ten minutes (the dark room meant that none of us could really see our notes as we were writing), it was still a really fun gesture and something I wish more professors had time to do in their curriculum. Her attitude towards teaching has kept me engaged and excited to learn even more about engineering.
