Housing Selection

This week upperclassmen got to complete the housing selection process. On Monday night I got to choose where I wanted to live next year. I will be living in Campus Square in a four person apartment with three of my friends. Campus Square is  located at the bottom of campus right on top of the Lehigh bookstore. This year I am living in a four person apartment in Sayre Park Village which is all the way at the top of the mountain on the hill with all of the sorority and fratImageernity houses. I’m definitely looking forward to living closer to classes and off campus next year.

The housing process is a little different each year. When you enter as a freshman you are assigned a dorm with a roommate that they pick based on your answers to a survey. When picking housing for your sophomore year everyone who is not living in a sorority or fraternity is randomly assigned a number. About a week later you are assigned five minute time slots based on your number. You pick roommates and pick your housing during your group’s earliest time slot. Last year housing was very competitive and my group was not able to get our first choice for housing. Since you are only required to live on campus for the first 2 years, there is less competition for upperclassmen, but 3rd, 4th and 5th years are all grouped together. The process this year was pretty much the same as last year but we got to choose our housing earlier than the rising sophomores and there were more housing options, including Campus Square which only has upperclassmen.
