At the end of your first year, all engineering majors must declare their majors. Bioengineers also select which of the three tracks they will take within the Bioengineering major. The three tracks to choose from are Biopharmaceutical engineering, Bioelectronics/biophotonics, and Cell and tissue engineering. At the end of last year I declared my major as Bioengineering and also chose the Cell and Tissue track. This track is closely related to mechanical engineering as well as materials science and is the largest of the three.
Since I am now in the Cell and Tissue track I’m taking a mechanics class, the Fundamentals of Engineering Mechanics.
